Church Multiplication Network : : Matching Funds
Partnership

MX9 Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Matching Fund a loan or grant?

  • It’s not a loan- Loans have interest rates and time constraints on repayment.
  • It’s not a grant- Grants are given for a specific purpose with no future expectations of partnership.

What it is the Matching Fund?

Smart money - When you receive a matching fund check, your church planting project is the beneficiary of a structured partnership designed to create a “win-win-win-win” for everyone involved.

  • Your project “wins” because you receive real money quickly that can be used to maximize the strength of your launch.
  • Your donors “win” because the money they donate to your project is doubled by the matching funds (up to $30,000).
  • Your partners “win” because the structured partnership approach gives them a strong option that makes a big difference right now.
  • The Church Multiplication Network “wins” because as your new plant is successful, you help us assist the next cohort of planters in finding the resources they need to be successful.

How soon will I receive the matching funds?

Fast Money - Turnaround time from application to “check in hand” is relatively quick. Here’s how the process works:

  • Fill out the application COMPLETELY! Don’t leave any blanks empty. Every field on the application is important. Every application is contingent on funds being available, but so far, the funds have been available.
  • Once we receive your application, it will be reviewed by the CMN Matching Fund Approval Team and forwarded to the Assemblies of God Executive Leadership Team for final approval. The Executive Leadership Team is composed of the General Superintendent, Assistant General Superintendent, General Treasurer, General Secretary, Executive Director of U.S. Missions and Executive Director of World Missions.
  • The Executive Leadership Team meets twice a month. Assuming that everything is in order regarding your application, we should be able to send a check to your primary partner within 3 to 4 weeks.

What other benefits will I receive?

Anointed Money - Money is not evil…loving it is! We call this “anointed” money because it is more than money.

  • It signifies that you are surrounded by a team of supporters praying for you to be effective at building a bridge to people who need Jesus.
  • You will become part of the Matching Fund “family” and receive regular updates on the collective progress of all of your fellow Matching Fund churches.
  • You will be connected to a growing group of prayer partners who will be receiving regular updates.

How much is the monthly replenishment?

Strategic Money - The Matching Fund process connects you to a “pay it forward” approach to investing in the Kingdom.

  • When you request matching funds, you agree to tithe to missions from the general income of the new church. You are welcome to give half of your tithe to ANY missions project.
  • The other half of your tithe is sent to the Church Multiplication Network Matching Fund pool so it can be used to help the next church planting project seeking matching funds. From its beginning, your church will be helping other new churches come to life all across America.
  • Once the original amount of matching funds you received has been replenished, we ask that you continue to “pay forward” 1% of the income of your church in perpetuity, or until your new church has a “grand-daughter” church!

Why did the Assemblies of God start the Matching Fund?

We are joining in faith to accelerate our efforts to reach lost Americans with the Gospel. It’s not okay that many of our fellow citizens are spiritually confused. It’s really not okay that the percentage of spiritually confused is steadily increasing every year. We’re not going to sit by idly and watch a spiritual catastrophe take place.
